With her detailed knowledge of the period, Gillian Linscott uses a real event - the attempted bombing of Lloyd George's house - to launch Nell into her seventh rollicking adventure. Attempting to protect her friends in the suffragette movement from police enquiries into the bombing, Nell agrees to help expose a blackmailer. Someone, possibly the manager of a fashionable dancer, has got hold of some indiscreet correspondence between Asquith and his mistress. A visit by the dancer to perform SALOME to a private audience seems to offer an opportunity to reclaim the letters. But before anyone can act, the principal artiste is murdered and Nell is surrounded by those she loathes most - politicians, mysoginist businessmen and the police. . .
